ASNA's Iftar

On June 10th, ASNA organized an Iftar for one and all. From families to long term (maybe even long lost) friends, all sat in one auditorium gathered together as a whole, watching children connect and play and make new friends, themselves! We started it off with our president's, Mohammed Hadiouche, opening speech, right after having Nada Ragoub recite a verse from our blessed Quran. After the commencement speech, we had Amina Titraoui give us an inspiring speech on the benefits of Ramadan and why we are lucky to fast this month. Amina Abada then shared an ancient, yet heartwarming nasheed, lost in the centuries, "As Subhu Bada Min talatihi." Then she, Nada Ragoub, Zeineb Abada, and Meriem Ragoub, sang a nasheed for us by Maher Zain. Soon after, a video of ASNA's events "Through the Years," was projected and shared with all past members and new members. (you can check the video here! or on ASNA's YouTube Channel!)

Happy of the successes that they put forth, our organization awarded Amira Esseghir, Doctor of Dental Medicine, and Salim Bendaoud, Doctor of Philosophy in Neuroscience, with plaques to honor their recent successes of achieving their new titles.

Also honoring our Algerian pride, Reem Esseghir was awarded 1st place in the 2016 Abdelkader Global Leadership Prize essay contest. We were happy to hear her speech!

We closed our evening with Megdouda Abada's ending speech about the importance of the Youth's role in making ASNA.

This was an eventful day, with lots of happiness, and laughs, (and food!)

Hopes up for the Eid event! Visit our website for pictures

ASNA's Third Annual Iftar

Heads up! ASNA is welcoming one and all to its Third Annual Iftar! Just like previous years, ASNA will be serving not only Iftar, which, I mean... Come on... food! Who doesn't like food? But ASNA will also be serving sweets, coffee, and tea, anything to make your evening. At least you'll have an exciting answer when someone asks you, "saharti?" Taraweeh will be held, as well, so dont worry about missing out!
Come on, and come spend time with family, friends, and have a night to remember, with ASNA! You can register to attend on the ASNA website

Stay tuned after the event for pictures here on ASNA News!

Youm Al-A’ilm يوم العلم Celebration

Today, April 23rd, 2017, we celebrated the widely known Algerian day "Youm Al-A’ilm يوم العلم" or Day of Knowledge. We had our youth create presentations and form their own researches in honor of this day. Our main objective was to have our children learn more about their culture, and the importance of Algeria's scholars and what they have offered us, today.
Thank you all for supporting this event. The winners of this event are mentioned on the home page!

Dr. Mohand Khoukhi

Professor Khoukhi was our speaker, March 12th, 2017. He spoke about the importance of economics and how it should be perceived in both countries, America and Algeria. He mentioned many interesting facts that allowed us all to step back and think about the Algerian economy. Not only that, but we also learned how the education of our children and the behavior of our people impact the growing US and Algerian economy .

Thank you, Professor Mohand Khoukhi, for this intriguing speech!

Omar Mohammedi

Lawyer and professor, Mr. Omar Mohammedi was our speaker for our event on January 1, 2017. He taught us the importance of “effort” and “perseverance”. He showed us and educated us about the true definition of leadership by implementing the meaning of perseverance, “when you believe that you are doing the right thing, you go for persevere and you keep doing it until you prove it right.” By recounting his many success in the court rooms, we understand that from believing in ourselves, and standing up for what we believe in as a Muslim community, we can make new things for us, our children, and future generations.
Thank you, Mr. Omar Mohammedi for your valuable lessons!
